After serving in AmeriCorps and Peace Corps, I was excited to get back into research. I knew I wanted to attend an R1 research university. I accepted an offer at IU because of the motivated faculty and exceptional research facilities. You can watch professors’ beaming during research talks. That encourages me to push myself to become a better researcher! Student life is also acknowledged by the Chemistry Department. We have access to an embedded counselor and professional student organizations. I enjoy the cross-disciplinary collaboration in the Materials Research Society at IU. Not to mention, our campus is beautiful. The chemistry building is alongside an on-campus forest (Dunn Woods). Outside of school, I like to hike, and Bloomington is only a short drive from Hoosier National Forest. My favorite hikes are to the caves and waterfalls. I am glad to call IU home for the next few years.
