CAPS – Counseling And Psychological Services

The Chemistry Department has arranged for there to be a confidential CAPS Counselor in Residence, Melissa Anderson. You can schedule appointments by calling CAPS at 812-855-5711 and requesting Melissa Anderson/Chemistry Counselor. These appointments are offered virtually or in-person in the Chemistry Department’s meditation/prayer room using HIPPA compliant technology. All confidentiality procedures are in place. Appointments can be tailored to provide a self-care activity, the opportunity to talk about life, or have a confidential conversation, among other topics. Your normal health fees apply to use this service. Your first ever CAPS appointment is free, in addition to two free sessions every semester. Please note that you are welcome to see other counselors at CAPS – major benefits of this resources it that Melissa is available every week exclusively for chemistry grad students, shortening the time to appointments and she understands well the structure of our program. There is no session limit.

Have special programming ideas surrounding graduate school and mental health, please contact the Director of Graduate Studies for Chemistry.
