Sarah Keane


Sarah Keane joined the Indiana University Department of Chemistry in 2007 to pursue a PhD in Biological Chemistry where she trained with Prof. David Giedroc. During her graduate studies, Sarah received the Bernice Eastwood Covalt Memorial Scholarship and the Felix Haurowitz Award. In 2012, Sarah went on to pursue postdoctoral training with Prof. Michael Summers at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She is currently the William R. Roush Assistant Professor of Chemistry and an Assistant Professor of Biophysics at the University of Michigan where her lab studies RNA structural biology. Prof. Keane’s lab is supported by research grants from the NIH, the NSF. She received the Cottrell Scholar Award (2022) and was named a Pew Biomedical Scholar (2020), recognizing both her research and teaching accomplishments. In 2021 Prof. Keane was selected for the IU College of Arts and Sciences 20 under 40 list.
