Dennis Peters Obituary, Video Tribute, Public Service Announcement

Thank you for continuing with the important online instruction and remote research activities during this emotionally difficult week.  Following are a few items related to Dennis, plus an announcement on health services for students.

1. Dennis’ obituary was in the local newspaper, as well as on our own website, https://www.chem.indiana.edu/2020/04/in-memory-of-prof-dennis-g-peters-1937-2020/, if you would like to share.
2. When IU Pres. McRobbie learned about Dennis, he sent this note: “I am terribly sorry to hear this very sad news. A tragic loss to the department & university. One of the giants on whom the reputation of your department was based. I had a memorable lunch with him late last year. He was an amazing man. To still be research active & teaching at his age was quite remarkable.  Please convey my condolences and those of the university to his friends, colleagues & students in your department.”
3. ChemITG is working on a video tribute.  If you have photos of Dennis or videoed stories to share, please send them to chemITG.

Public Service Announcement

IU Health Center at 10th and Jordan is OPEN to see IU students.  In-person medical appointments are available M-F, 8-11:30 and 1-4:30-- please call ahead for in-person appointments.  Telemedicine appointments available for any student physically located in Indiana.  Select phone consultation for out of state students available as well.  We now have separate entrances and floors for sick and well students, and every person in the health center (providers, staff and students) wears a mask and practices social distancing to keep you safe.  Not all health center services are available in person, but CAPS, dieticians and Physical Therapy are available via telehealth.  All IU graduates are eligible to see the Health Center for 1 calendar year after their last class ended.  The IU Health Center is here for you at 812-855-7688.
