Virtual GRW, Stay Home, COVID-19 Relates Expenses

March 27, 2020

If you’ve been checking the COVID-19 information page, you’ll note a new addition to the left-hand side menu, “FAQ for Teaching and Research During the Hibernation Period.” Because it includes important operational details in effect during a time when the building will be fairly vacant, the page requires a CAS login. Note that it has guidance on recording lectures, stock room, shipping, receiving and purchasing, maintenance, etc. and it will be updated as policies evolve.

  1. Virtual GRW starts this evening- Dalane and Kayla have sent out information and links to all involved. Many thanks for their tireless efforts in getting things organized!
  2. The College has provided us with template ‘transit letters’ for anyone who needs to be on campus for instruction or essential activities and who did not get an essential personnel card before services shut down. Mary Skinner sent out personalized letters yesterday afternoon. If you did not receive one and you need one, please contact Mary.
  3. That said, everyone who can conduct courses from home needs to do so. The message from Provost Robel sent 26 March 2020 was very clear about the need to stay home. Her message also packed a great deal of information on summer classes (virtual) events and programs (canceled), extensions of probationary periods and tenure clocks, teaching, and amped-up wi-fi in campus parking lots to support students with limited internet. Please refer to her message for more details.
  4. Purchases related to COVID-19 need to be tracked, per the college. Anyone submitting an order to chemreq@indiana.edu or assigning a cart to one of our purchasing reps will need to specify whether or not the order is related to COVID-19.

As we prepare to ZOOM our way through the rest of the semester, it would be worth remembering why it is sometimes good to lock the door when ZOOMING live, as Mary Skinner’s daughter kindly reminds us with this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=Mh4f9AYRCZY
