Last Week of In-Person Instruction
This is the last week of any in-person instruction until early February. Safe, masked, and socially-distanced research can continue. The rate of new cases is increasing in Monroe County, but as of now, there has been no indication that campus will return to hibernation mode. According to the IU Medical Response Team (see recorded webinars here https://broadcast.iu.edu/), cases on campus among faculty and staff is significantly lower than the general population, and while we have not been provided any information specifically on in-lab transmission, their reports say that there has been no in-classroom transmission.
COVID Testing
In the last update, information on departure testing was given (see https://covid.iu.edu/). Other than surveillance (mitigation) testing, we’re not aware of any ‘return’ testing (will update if the situation changes). However, the new free testing location opens today. This link has information, a link for scheduling a test, plus info on the other non-IU testing location. https://www.co.monroe.in.us/egov/apps/document/center.egov?view=item;id=10931. IU Health COVID test results have recently been taking 3-5 days; the new test processing lab in Biol is projected to provide results in 1-2 days.
