Waste Pickup, New Autoclave, Facility and Building Operations

As we end our first week of restart, I would like to thank you for continuing to send your training certificates. I won’t be personally acknowledging each one (there are 220+ as of now) but I believe the College is keeping track. Thanks to those of you who have submitted good suggestions through the anonymous portal.

We would like to hear from you all on how well you have been managing social distancing and keeping surfaces disinfected while operating at a reduced group size. The College’s vision for research restart is that June is a transitional month, with 1 July currently being eyed for full return. Obviously, things could change if there is a spike in cases.

A few operational details:

Waste pickup will be on the dock by appointment only, starting Thursday, June 11. Please fill out a waste pickup request form at http://apps.ehs.iu.edu/waste/main.cfm and EHS will email you the appointment time.
The new autoclave has been installed in room A619; please contact Jon Karty to schedule training.
The machine shop will resume limited operations starting Monday, June 8.
The EMC will resume operations Friday June 5; please follow the guidelines sent to users by David Morgan on Thursday.
The stock room appointment website will be launching Monday afternoon (details to follow). Hours should be 9-12 and 1-3 Tuesday-Friday, starting next week. The Biology stock room is open from 12-4 Monday-Friday.
Building operations will be giving each laboratory room 1 pump bottle of hand sanitizer, 1 spray bottle of surface sanitizer, and 1 roll of paper towels which will be refilled nightly. Please let Jon Karty know if your labs have not received these items. Our home-made ethanol-based sanitizers from the loading dock can augment this supply, if not sufficient. The stock room does have gel-based hand sanitizer and Fantastik cleaning spray for sale.
