PPE, Fall Instruction, College Restart, Chemistry Restart Plans

May 29, 2020

A few updates to close out the month of May

  1. Jon Karty collected a large load of PPE for the department, yesterday.  Parcels containing the PPE you ordered are labeled by PI or facilities manager name in the hallway across from the stockroom.  When collecting, please be sure to observe social distancing and wear a mask.
  2. On 21 May, Pres. McRobbie sent an email that included comments on fall instruction, in particular that it would in part be conducted face to face.  If you are in an at risk population and will require an accommodation (e.g., no face to face instruction), please contact me. You do not need to disclose any details- I will refer you to the appropriate contact person to initiate the accommodation process.
  3. As mentioned yesterday, the College will be releasing its restart plan very soon.  As a heads up, my understanding is that some online training will be required prior to returning to lab.
  4. For easy reference, ITG will be posting the facilities’ restart plans on the COVD-19 Resources page under the “SAFETY” tab (https://www.chem.indiana.edu/safety/covid-19-resources/).  The department and IUB Research restart plans are also posted there, as will be the College plan when it is released.

We really appreciate your carefully prepared restart plans.  As always, reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
