Work From Home, Essential Personnel, eDrop

March 17, 2020

Following is a distillation of the new information that rolled in since yesterday’s update.

  1. From Provost Robel’s email: While campus is currently open to facilitate teaching and research activities, if you are in a vulnerable group identified by the CDC, please do not come to campus. Please work remotely. Let ITG know if you need help getting set up for working remotely.
  2. ITG has purchased several cameras and microphones to support online teaching efforts. Please contact ITG if you need this equipment.
  3. The College will be discussing how to handle grading, e.g., S/F versus letter grades, today with the Provost (refer to item 3.b. from the Provost’s letter sent last evening). We will report back on this matter soon.
  4. We have set up a folder on box into which we have deposited general information Jonathan Karty has been accumulating, our department’s essential personnel contact information (so far), and training videos for online teaching that our talented cohort of lecturers prepared (thank you all!!). You should be receiving an invitation this morning, if you haven’t already. We will update as necessary.
  5. Regarding the essential personnel, thank you for providing names. Again, we are hopeful that campus will not be closed, but in the event it is, essential personnel will have access to the building. In the event of a shutdown, we do not expect any interruption in power, water, reverse-osmosis water, ventilation, heating/AC.
  6. The Registrar’s office will be extending the use of eDrop through April 5. As always, be aware that things are changing daily.

Again, thank you for your patience and your extraordinary efforts!
