Science Library Closed, Recorded Lectures, Stockroom

March 18, 2020

Following is a distillation of the information that rolled in since yesterday’s update.

  1. As of today at 5pm, the Science Library in Chemistry will be closed at least until May.  Faculty, please email Matt Kovach if you need access to the online teaching tools, if you haven’t already.
  2. ITG recommends having recorded backups of your lectures in case of interruptions.  This may be particularly critical for students with less access to internet services.  Also, there have been issues with Kaltura, which Kaltura reports are currently being resolved. Please let ITG know if you experience any problems with any online platforms.
  3. Graduate students living on campus and who have been asked to vacate the campus housing have received information from the College and Sara Skrabalak about how to petition to remain on campus. Faculty can assure their campus-housed students that the College and the Department will advocate on their behalf to remain in their current housing.
  4. STOCKROOM:  Starting today, the stockroom will be open from 9am to 2pm.  Those needing to drop off outgoing shipments after 2pm can make an appointment with Marcia (mlb7@indiana.edu) to do so.
  5. The Business Office is still processing orders for research supplies.
  6. Can’t find a staff member you need to reach in their office?  A number of staff are telecommuting, and are available via email, including Elizabeth Kang, Kerry Fuentes, Linda Cage, and Daniel Hosler. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility in minimizing contact at the moment.
  7. More info on conducting the GRW online will be forthcoming.
  8. If you are having trouble accessing the box with the virtual teaching tutorial videos, please contact Mary Skinner.
  9. IN THE EVENT OF A CAMPUS SHUTDOWN: The College and Campus understand that faculty may still need access to the building for conducting their virtual courses.  Please be assured that the College and Campus will not cut you off from access to your teaching tools, as long as virtual instruction is ongoing.

Reach out if you have any questions.
