Pengyun Li received his B.S. in 1994 and M.S. degree in 1996 from Nanjing University, China. He was awarded his Ph.D. in biophysics from Tsinghua University, China, in 2003. He joined Indiana University as a postdoc in 2005 and promoted to assistant research scientist in 2008 after he was chosen to be the director of cultivation and bioprocess facility. He joined Dr. Dimarchi group to do diabetes and obesity related drug research in 2010.

Dr. Dimarchi research group focuses on developing new drug candidates with improved potency or therapeutic index in the treatment of obesity or diabetes. Pengyun Li is responsible for biosynthetic platform setup, development and maintenance in his group.
