Allen received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University under the direction of Igor Adamovich and J. William Rich of the Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics Laboratories. His research has involved infrared spectroscopy, mass-spectrometry, and plasmas. He is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Allen’s current research interests include atmospheric pressure mass-spectrometry sources and time-resolved infrared spectrometry to study inter-molecular energy migration. He has collaborated with the Hieftje Laboratory for Spectrochemistry since 2013 and currently works with the Thielges Group.
