Banruo Huang received his B.S. in Chemistry with highest honors from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2017. He then pursued his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, under the guidance of Professor F. Dean Toste, where he developed novel catalytic transformations and sustainable organic materials. After earning his doctorate in 2022, Banruo joined the University of California, Santa Barbara as a postdoctoral researcher with Professor Craig J. Hawker, focusing on efficient polymer processing methods for 3D printing and upcycling applications.
Banruo will join the Department of Chemistry at Indiana University Bloomington in January 2026. Research in the Huang Group will center on developing innovative chemical strategies to tackle sustainability challenges and enable precise structural control in functional soft materials.
