About REU

Project Overview

The central goal of this REU program is to introduce undergraduates to research in materials chemistry, assembly, and nanoscience by providing an interdisciplinary training environment that promotes integration of concepts from analytical, synthetic, and physical chemistry as well as chemical biology. Specific projects and faculty mentors can be found here. Career development activities are also integrated into this REU program.

 

REU Students Will

  • Engage in a 10-week summer research experience
  • Participate in weekly career development discussions
  • Attend a lecture series on entrepreneurship in the chemical sciences
  • Visit local companies such as Eli Lilly and CRANE Naval Surface Warfare Center
  • Interact with undergraduate and graduate students in social events

REU Students Receive

  • Research experience
  • A $500/week stipend
  • A travel allowance up to $500
  • On-campus housing
  • A meal allowance
