Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility
The NMR Facility provides 5 high resolution NMR spectrometers for a variety of solution-state experiments. All spectrometers are manufactured by Varian Associates and are controlled by Sun workstations or RedHat Linux PCs. Two Windows PCs, three Sun Data Stations, and a RedHat Linux PC are available for post-acquisition data processing and analysis.
Inside the NMR facility is a 500 MHz Varian Inova NMR Spectrometer designed for long-term experiments at low concentrations, such as multidimensional experiments using biochemical molecules. It's predominantly used by chemists who need long-term, high resolution, or high sensitivity acquisitions.
Also within the NMR facility is a 400 MHz Varian Inova NMR Spectrometer designed for experiments of all NMR-active nuclei at various temperatures. It includes a Four Nucleus+ probe which can observe 1H, 19F, 31P, or 13C without assistance from the facility staff, and can be tuned to observe other nuclei. It is also capable of decoupling two nuclei (1H, 19F, 31P, or 13C) while observing a third nucleus (1H, 19F, 31P, or 13C).
The NMR Facility is equipped with several Data Stations for pre-acquisition experiment set-up and post-acquisition data processing, analysis, and interpretation. There is also a Wet Lab which can be used for routine chemistry related to NMR samples and is available upon request.
