Hongwei Wu graduated from Nankai University, China, in 1989 with a B.S. in Biophysics, and completed his Ph.D. in Biophysics from Beijing Medical University (now merged into Peking University) in 1995. Before joining Indiana University in 2013, he was a research fellow in the National Cancer Institute at NIH, Bethesda, Maryland; and an interim NMR facility manager in CDDI center, University of South Florida, Tampa. Prior to USF, he also worked as a senior research associate or a postdoctoral fellow in CCNY/CUNY, New York, UCONN Health Center, Connecticut, and Miami University, Florida.
His research interests are focused on the solution NMR techniques and its applications for the biomacromolecular structures, functions and dynamics studies. He has experiences of the entire system installation and testing of the 600 and 800 MHz spectrometers and HCN cryogenic probes; and also has protein chemistry experiences including molecular cloning, protein expression, protein isotope labeling, and purification. He is currently managing high field 600 and 800 MHz Bio-NMR facilities at Indiana University, Bloomington.
