These requirements are based on those in the College of Arts and Sciences bulletin for students entering Summer 2004 and thereafter. Although every attempt has been made to ensure the accuracy of the degree information posted below, the official source of information regarding College of Arts and Sciences degree requirements is the College of Arts and Sciences web page and printed bulletins .
Degree Requirements
Fundamental Skills
- English Composition
- Intensive Writing
- Mathematics: must be completed with a C or better (will be fulfilled by the major)
- Foreign Language: (4th Semester Proficiency)
Distribution Requirements
- 1 Topics course (take College of Arts and Sciences E103, E104, or E105)
- 4 Arts & Humanities studies courses
- College of Arts and Sciences E103 will also count here if taken
- 4 Social & Historical studies courses
- College of Arts and Sciences E104 will also count here if taken
- 4 Natural & Mathematical sciences (fulfilled by the major)
- 2 Culture Studies courses
- 1 course not from dominant U.S.A. or modern Western Europe (list A)
- 1 additional culture studies course (list A or list B)
Major Requirements-B.A. Chemistry (must be C- or better)
- Overall GPA in major must be 2.00 or better
- 12 hours of the chemistry must be taken on the IUB campus
- 122 total hours required (36 at 300-400 level)
- 26 senior hours in residence

- 4 hours must come from C315, C317, C318, C342, C344, C361, C362, C430, C460, C481, C483, C484, or C485
